Vivian Xu is a media artist and researcher from Beijing whose practice focuses on the artistic exploration of electronic and bio media with an emphasis on the materiality and potential transient quality of the artwork. She has exhibited and lectured at various institutions in China and the US, including the National Art Museum of China (Beijing), Central Academy of China (Beijing), New York Hall of Science (New York), Rockbund Art Museum (Shanghai), China Academy of Art (Hang Zhou). She is the co-founder of Dogma Labs, a cross-disciplinary laboratory based in Shanghai. Dogma Labs is dedicated to creating a platform that integrates design, research, education and production with the areas of computation, biology, and digital fabrication. She graduated as an MFA from the Design and Technology program at Parsons the New School for Design in 2013 and is currently a Research Fellow at New York University Shanghai. She works between Beijing, Shanghai and New York.
